The motor industry is highly competitive with numerous well recognised brands. Ford have topped the sales charts in Kildare according to SIMI. Both passenger and commercial vehicles have seen the highest sales figures for the month of November in Kildare. The figures fro November show that Ford have 12% share of the car market and 28.5% share of the van market. Out of the top 5 selling nameplates for November in Kildare three of them were Ford models.

The North Kildare Chamber Business awards 2015 took place in the K Club on 27th November. The awards are county wide awards recognising Entrepreneurship, innovation, diversity and talent of businesses across all sectors. Finlay’s were especially excited for the award ceremony this year as Mike and Gary Finlay were nominated for the Entrepreneur of the year award. Mike and Gary attended the awards ceremony with high hopes for the award but knew that the competition was high. The announcement of the award was, like all talented nominees, a nerve wrecking moment for the two Finlay brothers. Once there name was called the nerves turned to quickly sheer happiness. The Ford Mondeo has been voted Continental Irish Car of the Year 2016 by the Irish Motoring Writers’ Association. The announcement of the 39th Irish Car of the Year Award was made at an awards ceremony in Dublin today attended by leading figures from the motor industry.

Ford MondeoThe Irish Motoring Writers’ Association judges awarded points on the basis of criteria ranging from design, comfort, safety, economy, handling and performance as well as driver satisfaction, value for money and technical innovation, with a maximum of 20 points under each heading.

Supporting local corganizations

Busy weekend ahead

 

FInlay Motor Group have a busy weekend ahead of us at events in Co.Kildare.We pride ourselves on being a local business and we love supporting other local business’s and organizations. Giving something back to the local community is very important to us. This weekend we are supporting two different community events in the county.

Éire_Óg-CorrachoillThe first event this evening is for Eire Og Corrachaill hurling club. This is a local hurling club and they are holding a night in Newbridge greyhound stadium to try and raise funds for the club.

athgarvan gaaThe second event is in aid of a school and Gaa club and they are holding a ‘Who wants to be a Thousandaire’ in the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge. This event  is to raise much needed funds for both Athgarvan GAA and Schoil Bhride.

William Clay Ford Jr. or more commonly known as Bill Ford is the executive chairman of Ford Motor Company. Bill is great grandson of Henry Ford – founder of Ford Motor Company.

Bill spoke earlier today at the 2015 Web Summit in Dublin and it was one of the highlights of the day. Bill spoke of the change which is happening in the motor industry thanks to technology. He mentioned numerous times that all business’s including Ford should only exist to make peoples lives better.

Speaking on how a company succeeds in business today he mentioned that a company which will emerge as winner in such an era will be the one which can stitch all aspects of a business together while ensuring peoples lives are made easier.

Finlay Motor Group on charity cycle

Mike cycles across Spain on charity cycle for Peter McVerry trust

Mike Finlay of Finlay Motor Group recently spent a week cycling across Spain for charity . The cycle was in aid of The Peter McVerry Trust and Dublin Chamber of Commerce were the organisers of the event. The Peter McVerry Trust was established in 1983 in a bid to tackle homelessness, drug misuse and social disadvantage.  Since being established it has supported thousands of young people in Dublin. It is events and fundraisers like this one which allows charities continue with their work.

This event was a 721km cycle done over a five day period with a total of 30 participants. Mike was one of the participants and was spotted somewhere between San Sebastian and Barcelona sporting the Naas Cycling Club kit. Finlay Motor Group are proud and continuous sponsors of Naas Cycling Club, and both Mike and Finlay Motors are proud to be associated with a local club. New mum Karen Koster is proudly announced by Ford Ireland as the new brand ambassador. Karen is a TV presenter, best known in recent years for being one of TV3’s Xpose presenters.

Karen took delivery of the new Ford Kuga Titanium as her new family car. She comments below on the aspects which are important to her in a car and why the Kuga is ideal for her.
