NCC Tour de Foothills 2018

The Annual charity Tour de Fooothills event took place last Sunday 15th April in aid Saplings School for Children with Autism & Special Needs. Finlay Motor Group have been proud sponsors of Naas Cycling club for close to 6 years now and have a great relationship with the club and all its members.

For all of us in Finlay Motor Group we look forward to the Tour de Foothills event every year and get great pleasure in hosting it in our showrooms here in Naas. It is for such a great cause and knowing we are helping such a worthwhile charity event is something we are very fond of.

As always, the showroom was flooded with cyclists eager to get on their bikes and get going on either the 65km or 110km cycle. Unfortunately, the weather did not stay in the cyclist’s favour and each cyclist had to brave the wind and rain and all the other elements day threw at them.

This event in particular is one of our favourites to help out with as it is in aid of such a wonderful organisation, with all proceeds are going directly to Saplings School for Children with Autism & Special Needs, Kill, Co. Kildare.

Saplings School for Children with Autism & Special Needs is a registered charity that was set up by a small group of parents thirteen years ago as there was no appropriate education or services in Ireland for children with Autism. It is one of only thirteen schools in Ireland that specifically provides a one to one education to children with Autism through ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) and other educational techniques. Saplings teach life skills and academic curricula with an educational programme individually built around each child’s needs, strengths and level of Autism.

The week before the event took place we received the below tweet from one of the pupils of Saplings School. This just shows how much this one-day event means to the students in Saplings.

Finally, Finlays would like to say a huge well done to Naas Cycling Club on another successful event. And to mention just a few of the people in which the event would not have been possible without – The marshals, the medical and mechanical backup, the parents and volunteers from Saplings, NCC volunteers and all the companies and individuals who sponsored or helped out in the event.

Every single person involved should be very proud of themselves and the difference their help has made to the children of Saplings.
